Tattoo not allowed for security personnel

Thursday, 11 April 2024 | PNS | BHUBANESWAR

Commissioner of Police Sanjeeb Panda has asked Special Security Battalion (SSB) personnel engaged to provide security coverage to Naveen Niwas, Raj Bhawan, Secretariat and Assembly not to make tattoos on their body parts, which are easily noticeable with uniform.

Those who have already drawn tattoos in their bodies were asked to remove those within 15 days.

The Deputy Commissioner of Police (Security), Bhubaneswar issued an order in this regard on Tuesday.

“A good number of unit men are found making ‘tattoos’ on their body which demeans the image of the battalion as well as Odisha Police since these are offensive, obscene and derogatory in nature,” the DCP (Security) said in the order.

He said that tattoos that are visible while wearing uniform are not permitted now onwards.

All guard in-charges have been directed to make a list of men having tattoos on their body parts easily noticeable while wearing uniform and ask them to permanently remove the tattoos within 15 days from the date of receiving the orders.

If the order is not implemented, necessary departmental actions would be initiated against the wrongdoers, warned the DCP.

He advised the cops to avoid getting inked the face, neck and hand to maintain a level of professionalism.
