Three Maoists were killed on Saturday in a gun battle with security personnel in Bijapur district along the Chhattisgarh-Telangana border. The battle took place around 5.30 am near Dolliguda village when a team of Greyhounds, Telangana’s anti-Naxalite force, was out on an operation, Bijapur Superintendent of Police Jitendra Kumar Yadav said.

A team of Chhattisgarh Police was present in the area to extend auxiliary support to the Greyhounds.

After the skirmish, bodies of three Maoists along with a light machine gun, an AK-47 rifle and a cache of arms and ammunition were recovered from the spot.

Earlier this week, at least 13 Maoists, including three women, were killed in a gun battle with security forces in Bijapur district.
