Three vehicle lifters nabbed, 29 two-wheelers seized from them

Crime Branch Bhopal has arrested the vehicle lifters who used to sell stolen vehicles in rural areas, 29 two wheelers worth Rs 17.45 lakh have been seized from the possession of the three arrested accused.

The three accused used to do recce of the dhabas, farms and houses in deserted areas in the outskirts of Bhopal. They used to steal vehicles and run away as soon as they got a chance at night. The accused have been arrested on the information regarding the method of selling stolen vehicles in rural areas.

DCP Crime Akhil Patel said that the accused Sonu Rai Singh, Goharganj, Vinod Rai and Monu Rai resident of Bari were detained on Saturday night from Thandi Sadak near Jhareshwar Bank.

Information was received from the informer that the three were selling bikes at low prices. When the papers of the vehicle were asked from the accused, they misled. On strict interrogation, the vehicle was stolen.

During interrogation, the accused told the police that they used to do recce of dhabas, farm houses and farms in the outskirts of Bhopal during the day. They used to steal these vehicles at night. They used to sell these stolen vehicles to the villagers of Raisen and Vidisha districts at low prices.

The accused said that generally police do less checking in rural areas. Villagers used to travel mostly in the fields, houses and villages. Due to which there is less fear of vehicles getting caught. Police have seized 29 two wheelers on the information given by the accused.
