Top-performing Anganwadi Centres in Odisha will be converted into Gyan Kendras. The Women and Child Development Department has taken a decision in this regard.
The Gyan Kendras will function as model learning centres for Anganwadi workers to improve their skills.
Each sector, consisting of a group of Anganwadi Centres within a block, will see the upgrading of two Anganwadi Centres into Gyan Kendras. These centers will serve as hubs where Anganwadi workers from nearby areas can enhance their skills in delivering quality services and promoting the holistic development of children.
Selection of these centres will be based on a performance evaluation scorecard developed by the department.
The Anganwadi Centres scoring a minimum of 90 marks in the evaluation encompassing infrastructure, kitchen gardens, teaching-learning materials and other essential aspects will be prioritised for upgradation in the initial phase.
