Total 63.21% vote in 5th phase: Additional CEO

Additional Chief Electoral Officer Dr Neha Arora, on Wednesday, said that 63.21 per cent people have voted in the fifth phase of elections whereas in the by-election of Gandey assembly constituency, 68.92 percent voting took place.

Arora further said that in the fifth phase, voting was held in three parliamentary constituencies Chatra, Hazaribagh and Koderma on May 20. Voting was 63.69 percent in Chatra, 61.81 percent in Koderma and 64.39 percent in Hazaribagh. She was holding a press conference at Nirvachan Sadan, Dhurva on Wednesday, she added.

The Additional Chief Electoral Officer said that the specialty of voting in these three parliamentary constituencies was that more women voted than men. β€œIn all the 16 assembly constituencies of these three Lok Sabha constituencies, women have prevailed over men in voting. He told that in Bagodar assembly constituency of Koderma parliamentary constituency, the voting percentage of women has been highest as compared to men. Here men voted 53.23 percent and women 74.49 percent. That means women have voted 21.26 percent more than men. The lowest difference in voting percentage between men and women was in Barkagaon of Hazaribagh parliamentary constituency. Here women have voted 1.46 percent more than men,” he added.

Arora said that since the implementation of the Model Code of Conduct, illegal materials and cash worth more than Rs 1 billion, 28 crore, 49 lakh have been seized in Jharkhand.
