Utkal Sammilani members paid floral tributes to the statues of Utkalgaurab Madhusudan Das, Maharaja Sriram Chandra Bhanjadeo and Shrikrushana Gajapati Narayan Dev on occasion of the Utkal Divas here on Monday.
Jatni MLA Suresh Kumar Routray and Gandhian leader Padma Charan Nayak were present and encouraged the Sammilani members.
At a function held at the central office of the Sammilani, Padma Charan Nayak urged the Odias to be like Kapilendra Deb and Dharmapada to uphold the honour of the community. Former Minister Panchanan Kanungo also spoke.
Utkal Sammilani president Anant Prasad Jena presided over the function, Sammilani general secretary and Mancheswar branch president Dillip Dashsharma coordinated the meeting.
