Vedanta ESL Steel Organizes #RunForZeroHunger Walkathon in Bokaro

Vedanta ESL Steel Limited hosted a Walkathon in Bokaro today to promote the #RunForZeroHunger initiative and the upcoming Vedanta Delhi Half Marathon. The marathon, scheduled for 20th October, supports Zero Hunger with multiple race categories, including a Half Marathon and runs for senior citizens and people with disabilities. Vedanta has pledged one meal for every kilometer run, benefiting children via its 6,000 Nand Ghars, including 150 in Jharkhand.

 

Notably walkathon saw the participation of people from all walks of life including the city’s SDO  Om Prakash Gupta (IAS), Ashish Kumar Gupta (WTD & CEO, ESL Steel Limited), Anand Dubey (CFO, ESL Steel Limited), Ravish Sharma (COO, ESL Steel Limited),  Shyamalee Minz (CHRO, ESL Steel Limited) and Ashish Bhardwaj (CCO, ESL Steel Limited) apart from the active participation of around 300 ESL Steel Limited employees. 

 

 Ashish Kumar Gupta, WTD & CEO of ESL Steel Limited commenting on the initiative said, “Participative sport has immense power to mobilise people from all walks of life to come together for fun, fitness and, most importantly, a cause. It is the dream of our Chairman,  Anil Agarwal, that every child in India sleeps with a stomach full of nutritious food."

 

Also City officials, ESL Steel executives, and 300 employees participated in the event, paying tribute to Mahatma Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri. The top three walkathon winners were felicitated, and CEO Ashish Kumar Gupta emphasized Vedanta's commitment to ending hunger across India.
