A woman Sub-Inspector (SI) of the Odisha Police has levelled sexual harassment allegation against the IIC of Phiringia police station in Kandhamal district.
As per reports, though the victim had lodged a complaint against accused IIC Ramesh Pradhan in 2019, no case was allegedly registered then.
Subsequently, the victim wrote letters to higher authorities, but it was in vain.
Then she moved to the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) seeking justice. After launching an inquiry into the incident, the commission asked the DGP to register a case.
Following an order by the DGP, the Crime Branch registered a case in this connection. Subsequently, a special team has been formed to investigate the incident.
“An internal complaint committee had been formed as per the order of NHRC to probe the allegation. The NHRC ordered us to register a case in this connection and start an investigation into it. As per the order, Crime Branch has registered a case and a woman DSP is investigating the case,” said DGP Arun Kumar Sarangi.
