LOSE YOURSELF IN A MAZE OF COLOUR

The recently concluded Art Maze by the Kiran Nadar Museum of Art celebrated people-to-people connection as much as it celebrated the beauty of art itself, writes SAKSHI PRIYA

The Kiran Nadar Museum of Art (KNMA) opened its doors in 2010 as the first museum in India focused on modern and contemporary art. It was special because it helped people learn about art and how it connects to our culture through exhibitions, publications, and educational programs.

Last month, KNMA recently embarked on a collaborative project with Nexus Select Citywalk for a one-of-a-kind experience called the Art Maze. This was not any ordinary exhibition. It was a journey inspired by the works of Indian legends like Lakshman Pai, Raja Ravi Verma, Jamini Roy, SH Raza, and Vivan Sundram. And as one walked through this mesmerising maze, art came alive to gently embrace you and make you a part of that artistic experience.

The Art Maze was designed to spark the participants' creativity and let their inner selves shine. It was an inspiring gift for aspiring artists, as it allowed them to indulge themselves for an hour, paint with colours from their imaginative palette and share their artistic vision. To the credit of the organisers, the ambience was magical, and it encouraged people of all ages to pick up brushes to create and colour their own masterpieces. Be it a seasoned artist or a rank beginner, the Art Maze truly provide space for one's artistic expressions to run unbridled. Everyone and anyone was invited to this artistic adventure with families, especially kids, exploring their creativity amid fun and relaxation.

The Art Maze was not just about making art; it was about making memories. It was a place where families and friends could bond over their shared love of art. Whether you came with your families, your best friend, or simply by yourself, you got to create something special together. The event celebrated people-to-people connection as much as it celebrated the beauty of art itself.

The Art Maze stands out as a wonderful example of how the artist within us never fades away. Seeing people colouring the maze was mesmerizing and therapeutic. It was an art platform where everyone got to express themselves. Imagine a maze, but getting lost in it instead. One even got to paint the walls! Kids, parents, grandparents - everyone grabbed a brush and added their splash of colour. Like a never-ending Holi celebration, even the walls came alive with a burst of colours, alongside creativity.

The exhibition travelled beyond the narrow realms of the term itself to turn into an immersive journey of creativity, imagination, and the enduring spirit of art. An impact that will definitely last a lifetime, reminding us of the power of art to inspire, unite, and uplift.
