In a shocking case of brutality, eight people, including four juveniles, kidnapped, stripped and stabbed a 14-year-old boy multiple times to death and dumped his body into a canal in Delhi’s Haiderpur area, police said on Thursday.
The police said among eight people who were involved in the murder, six have been apprehended, while a search is on for the remaining two accused. As per police, the incident came to light on Tuesday when a PCR call was received around 3.10 pm about a body lying near the Delhi Jal Board water treatment plant along the Munak Canal. A police team rushed to the spot and found the boy’s partially-decomposed naked body, bearing several stab wounds and a scarf tied around his neck.
The deceased was later identified as a resident of Jeevan Park in Siraspur. Police said he had been missing since the night of Sunday. His body was recovered two days later, raising suspicions of a planned and deliberate attack.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Outer North) Hareshwar V Swami said a case of murder was registered and multiple police teams were formed to investigate the matter. Technical surveillance and local intelligence helped in tracking the suspects.
Among the first to be caught were Krishna alias Bhola (19) and a juvenile. Both were known to the victim and lived in the same neighbourhood. During interrogation, Krishna revealed that he had been assaulted last year by two local criminals, Monu and Sonu, and he suspected that the deceased had tipped them off. Believing the boy to be an informer, Krishna held a deep grudge and, along with his associates, began planning the murder weeks in advance.
According to police, on the intervening night of June 29 and 30, the group spotted the boy near Veer Chowk bazaar. He was walking with friends when the attackers abducted him in full view. They took him to a secluded area near the Munak Canal, where the boy was gagged with a scarf, stripped, and repeatedly stabbed by each of the eight attackers. His body was then thrown into the canal.
Further investigation led to the arrest of another adult, Ashmit alias Ashwani (18), along with three more juveniles. Police have recovered a motorcycle used in the crime. The remaining two accused - Monu and Mohit - are still absconding and are believed to have fled to Haridwar. Police teams have been dispatched to Uttarakhand to track them down.
“The crime was brutal and disturbing. All efforts are being made to ensure that the remaining accuseds are caught at the earliest,” DCP Swami said.
Further investigation in the case is underway.
