Skydiving Festival 2025 to thrill Jamshedpur from February 16

The city is all set to witness an adrenaline-packed extravaganza as the Skydiving Festival 2025 is scheduled to take place from 16 to 23 February at Sonari Airport. Organized under the aegis of Jharkhand Tourism, the event promises to offer an exhilarating experience for adventure enthusiasts, attracting participants and spectators from across the country. 

The festival will be inaugurated by Tourism Minister Sudivya Kumar on Sunday at 10:30 am. The grand opening ceremony will be held at Sonari Airport, marking the commencement of a week-long celebration of adventure sports and aerial thrill. 

In preparation for the festival, Deputy Commissioner Anyay Mittal conducted an inspection of Sonari Airport to take stock of the ongoing arrangements. He also chaired a meeting with key administrative and security officials to ensure that the event is organized smoothly and safely. 

During the meeting, Senior Superintendent of Police  Kaushal Kishore, ADM Law and Order  Aniket Sachan, City SP  Kumar Shivshish, and DSM Dhalbhum Shatabdi Majumdar were present. They discussed strategic measures for crowd management, traffic control, and security protocols. The Deputy Commissioner emphasized the need for stringent security arrangements to ensure the safety of participants and spectators. 

Necessary guidelines were issued to all concerned departments, covering aspects like first aid, emergency response, and sanitation facilities at the venue. Additional police personnel will be deployed for crowd management and maintaining law and order throughout the event. 

The Skydiving Festival 2025 is expected to be a thrilling experience, with participants jumping from an altitude of 10,000 feet. It includes tandem skydives guided by professional instructors. To capture the once-in-a-lifetime adventure, the package includes up to 3 minutes of edited video footage and over 30 photos captured using a GoPro wrist-mounted camera on the tandem master's hand. 

An official said that the event is designed for adventure seekers aged 16 years and above, with a difficulty level categorized as 'Hard'. The duration of the activity is approximately 3 hours. The best season for skydiving in Jamshedpur is February, making this festival an ideal opportunity to experience the thrill of free-fall and aerial views of the city.  Pricing Details: The cost per person is ₹28,000. “ The Skydiving Festival is expected to give a significant boost to local tourism, with an influx of visitors from different states. The event is seen as a strategic initiative by Jharkhand Tourism to promote adventure tourism and showcase Jamshedpur as a premier destination for extreme sports,” said an official.
