Biswajit Mohanty, chairman of the BRM Education Trust that runs technical institutions in Odisha, joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Saturday.
Besides having a strong circle of students and youths, Mohanty, son of late Barrister Ranjit Mohanty, is also associated with many labour unions of Cuttack and an acquainted face among common men. Mohanty said he joined BJP after being influenced by strong leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi towards development of the country. BJP State president KV Singh Deo and Union Petroleum, Natural Gas Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and senior leader Samir Dey welcomed Mohanty at a formal function held at the party head office here.
They hailed Mohanty, well-known as Pugi Bhai, as an efficient organiser and a radical youth leader and said his joining would help party attract more students and youths. Apart from being BRM Educational Trust chief, Biswajit Mohanty is also President of Odisha Technical Colleges Association (OTCA).
