Armed robbers loot jewellery shop

In a daring act, four masked men armed with revolvers looted a jewellery shop in the town situated less than 100 m from the official residence of Hazaribagh superintendent of police Mayur Patel. Robbers not only whisked away with jewellery worth Rs  9 lakh but also laid their hands on Rs 1lakh cash. The incident too place at 3 pm and the four took the advantage of bad weather and heavy fog which forced maximum shops to down their shutters.

Sources said Soni Alankar Jewellers situated on Canary Road in Dipugarha locality. Robbers entered into the shop taking the owner Jitendra Soni and his two staffs on gunpoint. They at first pulled down the shutter so as to commit this crime safely. Even robbers applied tape on the mouth of Soni and his staffs. They made Jitendra to open the locks of a almirah which was having jewllery.

They collected the jewllery and cash and before escaping from the bike snatched the DVR box which was having the recordings of the CCTVs installed at this shop.  Eyewitnesses told to police that all the four ran towards a car and escaped. But as no one knowing about this loot, none took notice of the car and its registration number. All the other shops on this road were downshutter and so it provided a big opportunity to robbers.

On information, police reached to the spot and after getting the details after which a massive checking drive started on all the connecting roads to highway. Officials said all the police stations of the district as well as of the adjoining districts were informed and asked to remain alert. They said the way this crime committed showed that robbers must having the knowledge of this area as well as of this shop.

Shocked Soni said everything happened very quickly. He said robbers completed their work within few minutes and escaped.  Local people said they were surprised after knowing about this loot.
