BJP intensifies campaign for ULB elections

The Bharatiya Janata Party has intensified its campaign for the urban local body elections with chief minister Trivendra Singh Rawat and BJP state president Ajay Bhatt starting their campaign tours on Sunday. Former chief ministers, MPs, state cabinet ministers and senior party leaders have also started campaigning in support of party candidates. Further, BJP Delhi chief Manoj Tiwari is also slated to arrive for campaigning.

On Sunday, the chief minister Trivendra Singh Rawat undertook a roadshow and addressed a public gathering in the Mohkampur area in Dehradun. The BJP state media in charge Devendra Bhasin informed that while the chief minister began the campaign in Dehradun, the party’s state president Ajay Bhatt began campaigning in Bhikiyasain. Both the chief minister and Bhatt will be busy campaigning during the next five days for the party candidates contesting the urban local body elections. Rawat and Bhatt will campaign together on November 14. At Mohkampur on Sunday, the CM walked on the road, interacting with locals and also addressed a public gathering. The BJP mayoral candidate Sunil Uniyal ‘Gama’, MLA Umesh Sharma ‘Kau’ and other party leaders were also present in the public meeting.

Meanwhile, on Sunday, former chief minister Vijay Bahuguna campaigned in Kotdwar, State Tourism and Culture minister Satpal Maharaj campaigned in Bhagwanpur and Manglaur whie the BJP’s national secretary Tirath Singh Rawat headed the election campaign in Gairsain. Bhasin further informed that the party’s leaders who are scheduled to campaign include Union minister of State for Textiles, Ajay Tamta on November 12,  Tehri MP Mala Rajya Laxmi Shah on November 13 and former CM and current MP Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank on November 14. The programmes for other party leaders are also being finalised. On November 14, BJP Delhi president Manoj Tiwari will campaign at three locations. He will address public gatherings in Dehradun, Doiwala and Rishikesh on that day. The party’s state media in charge further informed that other cabinet ministers of the state and MLAs are also busy campaigning for party candidates in their respective areas. Earlier, the party’s national joint general secretary Shivprakash, national vice president and state in charge Shyam Jaju had undertaken one tour for campaigning. The BJP national media in charge and MP Anil Baluni has also undertaken one tour to campaign so far.
