On the day of State Assembly elections the units of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) not only annoyed employees conducting State Assembly elections but also candidates contesting were seen protesting and engaged in heated argument in the state capital.
One of the EVM units failed to function at St Marys School which resulted in the stoppage of voting at the polling booth.
The malfunction created panic among the Congressmen as their hopes are high to claim the constituency and Congress candidate PC Sharma after receiving the information reached the polling booth along with his supporters and staged protest.
He sat opposing the technical glitches faced in the EVM units.
Majority of problems in Bhopal constituency assembly were reported at polling booths in Shivaji Nagar and other polling booths which are in Bhopal South- West state constituency faced problems.
At polling booth number 197 in Shivaji Nagar several voters returned without voting as the EVM failed to start after half an hour of the start of the polling timing at 8 am.
In the same area at Ankur School in polling booth number 190 EVM faced malfunctioning and resulted in return of number of voters.
The Bhopal South- West state constituency which is closely contested witnessed problems from the start of the polling in the morning as EVM failed to work at polling booth number 257 at Char Imli where Chief Electoral Officer VL Kantha Rao and which was replaced after around half an hour.
