Four transgenders detained for vulgarity on Signature Bridge

Friday, 16 November 2018 | Staff Reporter | NEW DELHI

The Delhi Police on Thursday detained four transgenders after a video of them taking their clothes off on the newly constructed Signature Bridge in the Delhi went viral.

Police have registered a case of obscenity in public against the four persons. “We have detained four transgenders and are questioning them in connection with the incident,” said the senior police official.

“The exact date and time of the incident is being ascertained. The security on the bridge has been tightened following claims that there weren’t any police personnel deployed on the overpass,” said the senior police official.

The iconic bridge has become a popular hangout spot and embroiled in yet another controversy ever since it’s opening. Only a few days ago, some men were seen pulling off dangerous stunts while taking selfies by climbing upon the boundary of the bridge.

The Government has reportedly also planned 'safe selfie spots' to be developed in the second phase of construction that is scheduled to begin this week, as per a Hindustan Times report. The police have reportedly written to Municipal Corporation of Delhi in order to ask them to install caution boards warning people against clicking selfies dangerously.  Meanwhile, Delhi Traffic Police has started issuing challans to to motorists for traffic violations.
