JPSC postpones Mains examination

In the wake of several voices being raised against alleged irregularities in the commencement of Combined Civil Services PT examination by Jharkhand Public Service Commission and a request made by the government for postponement of the mains exams, the commission today postponed the Mains examination scheduled to begin from January 29.

Secretary of JPSC, Jagjeet Singh said that the exam has been postponed and the notice regarding this has been sent to the media houses for public awareness. According to the notice the JPSC has postponed the Mains examination advertisement no 23/2016 till further orders. The decision was taken after Principal Secretary of the Personnel, Administrative Reforms and Rajbhasha department Nidhi Khare wrote to JPSC Secretary to consider postponement of the mains examination. The issue of several alleged irregularities was discussed in the Assembly on Tuesday and Wednesday. The matter was also discussed in the Sate Cabinet on Wednesday.

According to the letter issued by Personnel department several complaints have been registered by civil services aspirants after the preliminary test examination results were declared. It states that the PT result includes names of those reserved category students in the reserved category, who have not taken benefits of reservation. Also, it states of the complaints of not selecting 15 times more candidates for mains examination according to category wise vacancies.

The letter also talks about legislators of Jharkhand Assembly requesting adherence to the reservation rules in the examination and several cases pending on the issue at the Jharkhand High Court.

Meanwhile, the State Cabinet today cleared 41 proposals presented by ydifferent departments before it. The Cabinet gave not to Rs 309.38 crore funds for construction of Nilamber-Pitamber University’s new campus in Palamu. It also approved renovation projects of 202 Ahar. Dams, medium irrigation projects under minor irrigation worth Rs 112.56 crore.  Approval was also given for setting up of Dairy plant at Sahebganj district worth Rs 34 crore. In another important decision the Cabinet gave its nod to expense of Rs 72.31 crore for construction of road and land acquisition from Gorkha Chowk (Nepal House) to Ranchi Railway Station, Platform No 5. It also cleared payment of Rs 200 crore to Government of Bihar under liability transfer for pension and other retirement benefits of employees.

The Cabinet also waved Rs  61.63 lakh land cess of Tana Bhagats due from the year 1956 and approved only re one as token cess for getting receipts in future. It also increased the retirement age of teaching faculty in medical colleges of the State from 65 to 67 years. For setting up of water, gas and drainage pipeline the Cabinet cleared the ordinance titled as ‘Jharkhand Water, Gas and Drainage Pipelines (Acquisition of Right of User in land)’. It also gave nod to Jharkhand Municipal (Amendment) Bill 2018.
