In line with NITI Aayog’s stress on pacing up development by involving the public and the private sectors, memorandum of understanding (MoU) worth Rs one crore was signed between the Haridwar district administration and the refinery and supply unit of Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) on Tuesday.
The Haridwar district officers said that they were inspired by Haridwar figuring in the list of 108 aspirational districts of the country prepared by NITI Aayog on the index of developmental progress. They further said that they were now determined to further develop the infrastructure and other sectors in order to make the city a model one for others in terms of development.
Speaking to The Pioneer, the district magistrate Deepak Rawat said, “The amount has been given under Corporate Social Responsibility to be used to improve infrastructure in the schools, medical facilities and child welfare. Besides, we would go all-out to free the district from the problem of malnutrition among the children.” He further said that 30 percent of the amount has been transferred to the district development office on the day.
It is also learnt that under the MoU, Rs 7 lakh each would be provided to 13 Anganwadi centres for purchasing sewing machines for the women. Besides, 10 toilets would be built in schools, two ambulances would be given to the health department and foetal heart monitor and coloured ultrasound machines would be provided to the district hospital.
The district officers further informed that IOC has handed over 15 KVA solar panels, six projectors and six laptops to the city development officer Vineet Tomar for schools where electricity supply is not available.
The unit heads, refinery Panipat V K Raizada besides a number of senior IOC officers, including A P Sharma, B K Rai, O P Sharma and Mohit Vasudev, was present when the MoU was signed.
