Chhattisgarh’s Chief Electoral Officer Subrat Sahoo on Tuesday revised the polling percentage of State’s phase-I 18 seats that went to polls on Monday and said the polling percentage surged to 76.28 percent which is 0.5 percent higher in these seats comparing to last election held in 2013.
“After compilation of final voting data, the polling percentage has gone up to 76.28 percent,’’ Sahoo told media persons. He added that higher turnout of female voters across 18 seats was one of the reasons of substantial increase in voting percentage.
The seats went to polls on Monday were Rajnandgaon, Khairagarh, Dongargarh, Dongargaon, Khujji, Mohla-Manpur, Antagarh, Bhanupratappur, Kanker, Keshkal, Kondagaon, Narayanpur, Bastar, Jagdalpur, Chitrakot, Dantewada, Bijapur and Konta.
Political analysts say that Raman Singh’s clean image and popularity could help BJP to register the record fourth consecutive victory in the mineral-rich State.
