In the 37th Senior National Rowing Championship the rowing players of Madhya Pradesh Water Sports Academy bagged three gold medals and one bronze medal. Besides, in the championship, the players of Madhya Pradesh bagged the overall fourth position with seven medals including three gold medals and four bronze.
The championship was played from December 17 to 23 in Pune Maharashtra. While appreciating the spectacular performance of the academy's players in the Senior National Championship, Director Sports and Youth Welfare SL Thoussen expressed his happiness and congratulated the medal winners.
It is to be noted that in the 500 meters of the championship and two thousand meters of Women's Pair event, the Academy girls' daughters, Sona Keer and Rukamani Dangi, gave each gold medal to Madhya Pradesh. The Academy's players Manas Sharma, Rohit Sandhav, Vijaypal Singh and Sunil Prajapati, the Academy's player at the 2000 m men’s Coxless-4 event of the championship earned gold.
In the men's Double Skull Event, the Academy's player Mangal Singh and Nitesh Bhardwaj won the bronze medal. Under the championship, Madhya Pradesh players won three bronze medals in different events of 500 meters race. In men's singles Skull event, Tejinder Singh and Ajit Kumar Yadav in Men's Pair Event Lace-4 event, Prof. Surendra Kumar Amit Kumar Sachin Kumar and Academy's player Bhanu Pratap Singh won 1-1 bronze medal.
It is to be noted that as many as 17 participants from the Academy participated in the competition. Around 5,500 players from 24 states in the championship are participating in the championship. Captains Dalbir Singh, Chief Instructor of Madhya Pradesh Rowing Academy and the team manager and assistant coach (police) Pawan Parihar trained the players for the championship.
