Workshop on regression analysis held jointly by institute & GDMC
Two day national workshop on Regression Analysis ,organised at Shri Guru Ram Rai Institute of Medical and Health Sciences (SGRRIMHS), ended on Saturday. The department of Community Medicine of Government Doon Medical College (GDMC) also took active part in organising the national workshop.
The Principal, GDMC, Dr Pradeep Bharti Gupta while addressing the workshop said, “The term regression was introduced by Galton in 19th century to characterise a tendency towards mediocrity and which has become the mainstay of many analysis of the medical data carried out daily’’.
The Principal of SGRRIMHS, Dr Anil Kumar Mehta informed about the importance of statistical tools in the field medical research.
He said that the main aim of the workshop was to provide hands on training of researchers in the field of medical data analysis and inform about regression analysis which is statistical technique commonly used in analysing the data by the researchers.
The Head of Department of Community Medicine SGRRIMHS, Dr Puneet Ohri explained about the application and importance of regression analysis stating that “It will, further, promote faculties to conduct more relevant studies in their areas of expertise and facilitate post-graduates and other delegates to have a better insight into statistics and it’s the first workshop of its kind in Uttarakhand”.
The Head of Department of Community Medicine GDMC, Dr Bhola Nath said that earlier faculty members had to go to Christian Medical College,
Vellore or Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research, Chandigarh to be a part of such workshops but the workshop in Dehradun has made task of researchers easier.
The organisers claimed that 70 participants from various medical colleges of Uttar Pradesh, Odisha, Delhi and all medical colleges of Uttarakhand participated in this workshop.
