2 burglars held, 13 mobile phones recovered

Delhi Police Anti-Auto Theft Squad (AATS) arrested two burglars who were involved in more than 20 cases of burglary, snatching and auto-lifting. Police have recovered 13 stolen mobile phones, three wrist watches, four metal idols of God and house breaking tools from their possession.

“The accused identified as Ajay alias Ajju (25) and Sonu (25), both residents of Prakash Mohalla in East of Kailash. On seeing the increase in the cases of burglary and snatching cases in the area police kept an eye on the activities of  criminals released on bail, following which two suspects riding on a Hero Honda Splendor motor cycle were stopped on the picket. They were not able to produce the paper of bike. On investigation the bike was found stolen and the duo were detained,” said Chinmoy Biswal, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), south east district.

“During interrogation, Ajju and Sonu revealed that they both live in same locality and are drug addicts. In order to meet their needs, they both started petty thefts, house-thefts and shop-lifting. They both have been previously arrested in 20 cases of theft and snatching. Accused are well acquainted with the topography of the area and before committing the crime they used to thoroughly conduct reckee about entry and exit points of target houses and shops,” said DCP.

“Accused persons had procured house breaking tools to break the locks of houses and shops for theft. Both accused persons used to meet and consume drugs at Bony Park, East of Kailash from the money raised from sale of stolen articles. Accused used to sell the stolen items to junk-dealers as well as to passersby,” said DCP.”12 cases of theft, snatching and auto-lifting qand further investigation is going on,” the DCP added.
