‘Freeze GPCDA, Pharma College accounts’

Thursday, 23 May 2019 | PNS | BRAHMAPUR

Internal squabble in the Ganjam Phulbani Chemists’ and Druggists’ Association (GPCDA), which runs the College of Pharmaceutical Sciences (CPS), Mahuda, has come to the fore with a court directing to freeze bank accounts of both the GPCDA and the college in an injection order in a case filed by a group of the GPCDA against the other.

The conflict in the GPCDA executive committee emerged after some of its members openly opposed the monopolistic attitude of the association secretary and CPS management committee chairman and the college Principal and insisted that the last three years’ receipts and expenditures of the college be intimated to them.

When they received no response, these executive members brought a “no trust motion” against the former functionaries of the GPCDA. Subsequently, V Santosh Kumar as president, Abani Kumar Sahu as secretary and V Chandra Sekhar were nominated as new functionaries of the GCPDA. However, the existing office-bearers didn’t hand over charges to new ones. Then, the nominated functionaries approached the court through lawyer Mahendra Mohapatra. The Civil Judge (Senior Division) accepted the case.

Taking all data into consideration, the court, through an injection order, has directed the former GPCDA president and secretary and chairman and treasurer of CPS management committee to freeze the bank accounts of the GPCDA and the CPS, informed newly-elected president V Santosh Kumar.
