Chief Secretary Asit Tripathy on Thursday directed all local bodies and district administrations to keep the roads named after Mahatma Gandhi and the Gandhi statue areas free from encroachment and also to keep them clean.

Tripathy issued the direction while chairing a State-level administrative committee meeting on the celebration 150th year birth anniversary of Gandhi. Culture Secretary Manoranjan Panigrahi presented updates for discussion.

He also directed the Culture, Language and Literature Department to publish booklets on Mahatma Gandhi with focus on his lifestyle and social messages.
