The State unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has added 8.5 lakh new members in the ongoing membership drive. The party has taken a target to make 11 lakh new members. The State unit of BJP is also trying to infuse new 15,000 active members in its ranks.
The president of State unit of the BJP and Lok Sabha MP, Ajay Bhatt reviewed the membership campaign at State party office on Saturday.
Informing about the meeting, the media-in-charge of the State BJP, Devendra Bhasin said that it was decided to extend the duration of the membership drive to August 20. The party had earlier decided to complete the drive by August 11.
In the meeting, it was also decided to organise programmes at every Mandal unit of the party on August 16, the first death anniversary of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee. Bhasin said that the plan to organise 150 km of Yatra in every Assembly segment on October 2 this year to commemorate the 150th birth anniversary of the father of the nation was also discussed during the meeting. The party has decided to appoint Yatra conveners at State, parliamentary constituencies and Assembly segment levels.
The meeting was attended by State general secretary Khajan Das, Rajendra Bhandari, Anil Goyal, Naresh Bansal, Gajraj Singh Bisht and others.
