Blossoms School celebrates Children’s fest

Bhubaneswar: The Blossoms School here celebrated the Children’s Festival to mark the birth anniversary of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru on Wednesday and Thursday. sThe two-day event had many activities to explore and nourish the talents of the children including fancy dress, handwriting, fastest reading, storytelling, debate and essay writing. The events concluded on Thursday with a cultural programme. School founder manager Touraj Moghbelpour and director Nadia Moghbelpour encouraged the children towards following their dreams. School Principal Seemita Panda emphasised on quality and health of the children. Social worker Dr Rudra Mohanty shared his experiences.

DAV CSpur girls shooting runners-up

Bhubaneswar: In the recently-concluded CBSE National Girls’ Shooting Championship at Karnal, Haryana, the three-member team of the DAV Public School, Chandrasekharpur here bagged the runners-up title and won silver medal. The team of Manyata Singh, Shravani Das and Shivangi Meher scored 1078 points while a team from Ranchi became the champion with 1092  points. The team participated under the guidance of sports teacher Anand Chandra Das. Principal Dr KC Satapathy congratulated the winners for bringing laurels for the school as well as for the State.

Bhaktakabi UP School holds Children’s Day

Bhubaneswar: The Bhaktakabi Madhusudan Upper Primary School here celebrated the Children’s Day here on Thursday. School secretary Madhusudan Nayak, who attended as guest, said children are the future of tomorrow. He also spoke about the importance of the day. On the occasion, different competitions were organised for children. Among others, school Principal Namita Sahoo, teachers Subhalaxmi Nayak, Minati Nayak and Chandilata Sethi were present.

Birsa Munda Jayanti observed in Jajpur

Jajpur: The birth anniversary of Birsa Munda was celebrated in Kaliapani, Kuhkia and Balanga areas under Sukinda Assembly Constituency on Friday. Nearly 5,000 tribals attended the programmes. Attending the programme, former Finance Minister Prafulla Chandra Ghadai said, “Birsa Munda has no substitute. He is a role model for us particularly for the tribals”. He also highlighted various steps undertaken by the Naveen Patnaik Government for the betterment of the tribals.

He distributed prizes to the winners of various competitions on the occasion.

Shallu Jindal honoured with Golden Peacock Award

Bhubaneswar: JSPL Foundation chairperson Shallu Jindal was conferred with the Golden Peacock Award for Social and Cultural Leadership-2019 at the London Global Convention on Corporate Governance and Sustainability 2019 organised by the Institute of Directors at London on Thursday. She was awarded for being an outstanding pioneer in the world of social welfare and propagating India's rich cultural artistic heritage. She received the award from BBC Chairman David Clementi in the presence of ACCA Chief executive Helen Brand, EU's External Sub Committee Chairperson and former United Kingdom Minister Baroness Verma and Institute of Directors President Lt General JS Ahluwalia. 

OPGC celebrates foundation day

Jharsuguda: The Odisha Power Generation Corporation Ltd (OPGC) celebrated its 36th Foundation Day here on Thursday. On the occasion, OPGC Director (Operation) Alok Mukherjee flagged off a marathon in which more than 250 employees and hundreds of students took part. Jay Krishna Kumar, Thanasagar Padhan and Kaushik Ghosh clinched first three positions respectively in the marathon. Mukherjee inaugurated a blood donation camp organised in collaboration with Red Cross at the IB Thermal Hospital. As many as 40 units of blood were collected. He also visited the patients admitted at the hospital and distributed fruits. In the evening, he inaugurated a two-day cultural programme at the Rajiv Gandhi Ground here.
