The State cabinet paid tributes to the former External Affairs minister Late Sushma Swaraj, the school children who died in a mishap in Tehri district and victims of natural disasters at Ghat in Chamoli district and other parts of the state.
Paying homage to Swaraj before start of the cabinet meeting, chief minister Trivendra Singh Rawat said that the construction of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Rishikesh was due to Sushma Swaraj. It was her who as the union health minister had laid the foundation for AIIMS in Rishikesh. During her term as a Rajya Sabha member from Uttarakhand, she had spent a large part of her MP funds for construction of toilets in schools, he recalled.
On the occasion, tributes were also paid to the school children who had died in a vehicular accident in Tehri district, victims of disaster in Chamoli district and other parts of the state.
