Chairman cum Managing Director of Central Coalfields Limited Gopal Singh today inaugurated six-day (October 15 – October 20) ‘CCL Kayakalp Girls’ and Boys’ Football Tournament – 2019’ at Gandhinagar Ground, Kanke Road, Ranchi. As many as 32 teams (16 girls’ and 16 boys’) are participating in the prestigious tournament.
CCL Director (Personnel) RS Mahapatro, GM (Wefare) Vimlendu Kumar, GM (Legal)/Technical Secretary to Director (Personnel) Partho Bhattachaya, GM (Samadhan cell) Rashmi Dayal, GM (Employee Establishment) Vinita Sharan among others were present on the occasion.
Encouraging the players, Chief Guest CMD Gopal Singh said in his address that the players are talented enough to become the Arjuna.
Stressing on the importance of football, the CMD said that they are taking part in the biggest tournament of the State, which will not only enable them to bring laurels for the State but also for the country. He extended greetings to the players and said that the team, which loses needs to contemplate, how they can win and learn from the failure. The CMD praised the initiatives of the sports department of CCL and asked officials to take the campaign forward and brighten the future of kids.
Jharkhand Football Association Secretary Gulam Rabbani said on the occasion that the players need to be passionate to give right orientation to their talents. He said that the players from Jharkhand are doing great at the national and international level.
Former Indian Hockey (women’s) team Caption Asunta Lakra thanked CCL and shared the struggles and challenges of her life during initial days of her career. She asked the players not to accept defeat at any point in life to be successful in the field of sports.
On the inaugural day four matches were played, in which Oscar Foundation, Charihujir, Jashpuriya Club, Little Star and SAI registered victory. Manager (Sports) Adil Hussain and his team are playing an active role in the tournament.
Among others, Secretary Chhotanagpur, Md Aliuddin, former international cricketer Pradeep Khanna, Kalyan Chaubey, OP Thakur, members of CCL welfare board, principal of Vivekanand public school Kiran Dvivedi were also present on the occasion.
