Civic body organises PTM in 581 schools across its jurisdiction

South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) organised an agenda based mega “Parents Teachers Meeting” (PTM) in all its 581 schools across its jurisdiction.  A senior SDMC official said that the PTM witnessed around 78 per cent participation of the enthusiastic parents and their unique level of understanding while interacting with the teachers on the progress of their wards and their overall development. 

The direct active interaction by most of the parents coming from economically weaker sections underlined the need of bringing a cognitive development of students in order to sharpen their attitude towards learning and becoming an agent of social & futuristic change, he said.

The parents in turn reported the positive effect of ‘Buniyad Project’ with reference to progress in education and intelligence level of their wards, he informed, adding that the parents wanted that a mechanism be developed to keep alive exchange of views between teachers and parents to closely monitor the educational shortcomings of the children.  

SDMC Commissioner Punit Kumar Goel instructed the officers to visit maximum number of schools and prepare detailed reports on regular intervals to assess the impact of the meeting. SDMC Mayor Narendera Chawla during his visit to a number of schools in the west zone said that the PTM was organised in two shifts to analyse all the valuable suggestions received from the parents and chalk out an action plan to make students better than the best as far as their keenness to learning is concerned. The Chairperson of Education Committee Dr Nandini Sharma visited number of schools in Malviya Ngar, Ambedkar Nagar and Saket.   She stated that SDMC has provided an atmosphere conducive to learning in order to make our schools better than public schools.
