Rich tributes were paid by Congress workers to the former President Dr APJ Abdul Kalam on his birth anniversary on Tuesday.
At Rajiv Bhawan the office of State unit of Congress party, many leaders and workers assembled on the day and offered flowers on the portrait of the former President.
The Congress leaders termed Kalam as a great scientist and a great humanist.
The speakers on the occasion said the former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi had visualised the potential in a 30-year-old Kalam when she appointed him the director of missile programme of the country.
The Congress leaders who garlanded Kalam’s picture included Vice-President Surya Kant Dhasmana, spokesperson RP Raturi, Mahanagar President Lal Chand Sharma and others.
The activists of the Youth Congress, celebrated the birth anniversary of Kalam by distribting cake and teaching material to the students of the Bal Vanita Ashram located at Tilak Road here.
The national coordinator of Youth Congress Sonu Hassan led the activists. The spokesperson of the Youth Congress Vikas Negi informed students about life and achievements of APJ Abdul Kalam.
