Foul-mouth politician Damodar Rout has been taught a lesson by Naveen Patnaik, who wanted the former to realise that he is a zero without the BJD tag.
Patnaik’s game resulted in a victory for Rout’s son Sambit Routray as the BJD candidate for the Paradip Assembly seat, from where Rout had won in 2014 on a BJD ticket.
And Rout, who joined the BJP after being thrown out of the BJD for his series of anti-Naveen Patnaik remarks, was humbled as the saffron party nominee in Paradip’s neighbouring constituency Erasama-Balikuda.
His BJD rival Raghunandan Das, who had come to the BJD fold after quitting the BJP on the eve of the elections, defeated him.
Interestingly, the “know-all” Damodar Rout had been insisting in his prediction that Odisha was going to have a hung Assembly this time.
