National spokesperson of BJP Dr Sambit Patra met Foreign Minister S Jayanankar on Wednesday and sought his assistance towards the deceased pilgrims of Puri and Khordha.
During pilgrimage to Nepal, one Bijay Kumar Jena of Puri and Charan Biswal of Khordha died in a severe road accident in Nepal when the bus carrying them was suddenly dashed by a speeding truck from rear.
While the bus skidded into a forest nearby, Bijay and Charan died on the spot with other two from Odisha sustaining severe injuries. The injured admitted into a Nepal hospital have been identified as Sheshadev Jena and Sarbeshwar Jena.
During meeting, Patra requested the MEA to assist the victim families in facilitating repatriation of the deceased persons.
Jaysankar assured Patra of all possible helps. Notably, Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan in letter to the MEA also sought assistance to bring bodies to India.
The incident occurred on Monday night near Mangalpur on the Janakpur-Kathmandu highway when the bus carrying 20 pilgrims had halted there.
