Diplomats from 17 countries to participate in Global Skill Summit

More than 15,000 youths will be handed employment certificate during the Global Skill Summit 2019, to be organized in Ranchi on January 10.

The day long summit is being organized to mark the completion of state government’s aim to provide jobs to one lakh youth in one year, of which 15,000 will be given employment certificate during the porgramme.

Addressing a press conference here on Monday, Director, Jharkhand Skill Development Mission Ravi Ranjan said, “The target to provide employment to the youths was divided among various government departments including higher education, technical education, skill development, rural development, urban development and others. The target has been achieved. At present, entries for only 92,000 employments have been made on our portal and the remaining will be updated in the next two days.”

Diplomats like Ambassador, High Commissioner and other officers from 17 countries will participate in the summit. Some of the countries include Tunisia, Mauritius, Panama, Serbia, Bulgaria, Madagascar, Korea and others.

On the occasion, 15 Memoranda of Understanding (MoU) would be signed with various national and international companies working in skill sector including ITE Singapore, UK Skills Ltd, Festo, Schneider Electric Indian Institute of Welding and more.

The programme will be organised at Birsa Munda Athletics Stadium, Hotwar and will be divided in two parts. The first part will be the main event from 11 am to 2 pm and the second part will include two technical seminars. Also an exhibition will be organized at the venue where skill providers and recruiters will put up 30 different stalls for the youth.

The topics on technical seminars would be though leadership for scale, speed and innovation for future skill readiness and integrating formal education in skill system.

The programme will be attended by the youths, who are currently being trained under the skill development mission and around 1500 women from self help groups from across the state.

The road show organized at Dubai by Chief Minister recently had also yielded benefit as a result of which the chief operating officer of Dubai based Emirates Driving Institute, Ali Al Zaabi has consented to be a part of the skill summit.

Amar Jhar, CEO of Jharkhand Skill Mission said, “We are trying to tie up with the driving institute to open a Centre at Jharkhand. This will help the youth here get driving training. A grand Auto Expo 2020 is to be organized in Dubai where there will be a need of over 60,000 drivers. Once our youth are trained here in driving, they can get an opportunity to be a part of the expo.”

Governor, Droupadi Murmu will be the Chief Guest of the programme, while Union Skill Development Minister will be the Guest of Honour. The programme will be chaired by Chief Minister Raghubar Das.

Ranjan said, “We are inviting celebrities to anchor the programme including renowned cricket commentator Charu Sharma and TV actor and anchor Rohit Roy. Also, Sundeep Kochar, new age astrologer and motivational speaker will interact with the youth during this programme.”

PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PHDCCI), is the industry partner in the summit. Koteshwar Prasad Dobhal, consultant at PHDCCI said, "The State’s investor friendly Skill Policy 2018 has resulted in large number of leading Industries and Employers to look towards Jharkhand favourably, to meet its human resource requirement. Skill Development training is ongoing in more than 125 trades in nearly 30 sectors in the state catering to nearly full spectrum of Industries."

He added, "Global Skill Summit 2019 will offer an opportunity to interact with the policy makers, skill providers, employers, and thought leaders from all across the world."
