Field day for predators: Five rape, murder cases rock UP

Wednesday, 04 December 2019 | PNS | Lucknow

Predators had a field day across Uttar Pradesh as five cases of rape and murder were reported from Chitrakoot, Mirzapur,  Pratapgarh, Fatehpur, and Sonbhadra in the last 24 hours.

In Chitrakoot, the body of an unknown 22-year-old woman was found on Jhansi-Mirzapur National Highway in Bargarh Ghati area on Tuesday morning. The victim was presumably gang-raped and later shot dead by unknown assailants and her body was later dumped in a police outpost campus. The body was sent for autopsy and further investigations were on.

In Pratapgarh, bodies of two sisters were fished out of Sai river on the fringes of Deum village on Tuesday. The police were quick to dismiss the case as a suicide.

CO, Lalganj, Ramesh Chandra said, “The bodies of two Dalit girls — Shivani (17) and her sister Anjali (14) — were spotted in Sai river in Deum village. Their hands were tied and they appeared to have committed suicide by jumping into the river. They were studying in a school in Ashthabhuja Nagar and their father works as a labourer. They had strained relations with their step-mother.”

The relatives, however, suspected that the sister duo were murdered and claimed that the girls left for school but did not return home after which their uncle Arvind lodged a police complaint.

In another sensational incident in Mirzapur, a 15-year-old girl of Haliya locality studying in High School was kidnapped and gang-raped on Monday evening. A boy called the girl and she came out. Four miscreants bundled her into a four-wheeler and sped off. The accused took her to nearby forest cover and gang-raped her. While they were returning, locals spotted the vehicle and intercepted it. They nabbed the four accused and found the girl unconscious. The accused were identified as Jai Prakash Maurya, Lavkush Kumar Pal, Mahendra Kumar Yadav and Ganesh Prasad Bind. The girl said that the rapists included the son of a Deputy Jailor and a CRPF personnel.

In Fatehpur, a widow residing in Sultanpur Ghosh area was gang-raped by unknown miscreants on Monday evening. The accused barged inside her house and raped her one after another. The police refused to register a case in this regard. Additional SP, Chakresh Mishra, however, said that they received a complaint and further investigations were underway.

Meanwhile, a breakthrough made by the Azamgarh police in connection with a triple murder revealed sensational facts on how the accused raped a woman, her 10-year-old daughter and also killed three persons in process. The police claimed that the accused arrested on Monday was a sex maniac and a necrophile.

A week ago, a couple and their infant son were found murdered and two other children were seriously injured in their home in Mubarakpur area. The accused, Nasiruddin, revealed that he had committed similar crimes in Haryana, Delhi and West Bengal.

During interrogation, Nasiruddin confessed to have killed the 30-year-old woman, her husband and four-month-old son before having sex with her corpse and then raping her 10-year-old daughter.

In another incident in Sonbhadra, a man was arrested for raping a 70-year-old woman. The 27-year-old accused assaulted the woman when she was home alone last Sunday. He was arrested and sent to jail on Tuesday.
