nWith the arrest of two criminals, the Delhi Police on Saturday claimed to have busted a gang of robbers who used to steal high-end bikes and cars from the national Capital and then sell them on forged registration papers. Police said that
the gang had been active for the last two years and used to target 'Royal Enfield' bikes mostly.
The accused have been identified as Jayprakash (30), a resident of Noida in Uttar Pradesh (UP) and Shamim Durrani (26), a resident of UP's Aligarh. Police said that with their arrest they have solved eight cases registered across the national Capital. Police have also recovered

According to Dr G Ram Gopal Naik, the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), Crime Branch, specific inputs were received on November 28 that a member of an auto-lifter gang would
be arriving near Sarai Kale Khan Bus Terminus to sell a stolen Bullet motorcycle on forged papers.
"Acting on the inputs, a trap was laid and Jayprakash was nabbed by the police team. The Royal Enfield bike he was riding was found to be stolen and registration certificate was fake," said the DCP.
"Subsequently, a case under section 420/465/467/468/471/411/482/120-B of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) was registered at Crime Branch police station and the accused was arrested. He was taken on five days police custody and at his instance, five more stolen vehicles were recovered and his associate Shamim Durrani was also arrested. Accused Shamim was also taken in police custody and at his instance, six more stolen vehicles were recovered," said the DCP.
"During interrogation, the accused revealed that the gang operates in Delhi and NCR area. They directed their gang members to steal mostly new vehicles and after getting the stolen vehicle at cheap rate from the thieves, they used to make forged documents of the vehicle and used to sell it at a higher price to other persons," said the DCP adding that further investigation is in progress.
