Habibganj police have nabbed a drug peddler near Mansarowar Complex and recovered 14.5 gm of brown sugar worth Rs 1.5 lakh from his possession on Monday.
Police said that acting on a tip-off regarding a man carrying drugs was nabbed near Mansarowar complex and when he was searched 14.5 gm of brown sugar (heroin) was recovered from their possession.
The accused were identified as Israr Raj Yadav and is a resident of Shivaji Nagar slum. He failed to provide details of the drugs recovered from his possession.
Police said that the crystalline powder was recovered from his possession which was later found to be brown sugar (heroin) and quantity which was recovered from his possession was worth Rs 1.5 lakh.
Police said that the source of the drugs and their scheduled delivery to the customer in the city and nearby areas would be probed. The accused is a habitual criminal and has been involved in drug peddling for the past four years.
Investigating Officer SI Rahul Rai said that the accused has bought the drugs from suppliers who provide the drug near railway stations. The money paid to buy them would be investigated and regarding the suppliers. The accused bought the drugs for selling. The drugs would fetch around Rs 1.5 lakh. He has been booked for assault and other crimes and for drug peddling he is arrested for first time.
The police have registered a case under sections 8 and 20 of the NDPC Act and started further investigation.
