Hry registers GST growth of over 33% in Nov

Haryana has witnessed a growth of over 33.50 percent in net State GST collections during the month of November, 2019, over the corresponding period of the last year.

In a review meeting of Excise and Taxation Department chaired by the Haryana Chief Minister Mr. Manohar Lal Khattar here on Thursday,  Principal Secretary, Excise and Taxation Department, Anurag Rastogi apprised him that the collections of the State of Haryana under State GST are growing at the rate of 17.92 percent from April to November, 2019 over the corresponding period of the previous financial year.

He shared that the gross GST collections from the State during the month of November, 2019 witnessed a growth of 26 percent as against national growth of 6 percent for November, 2019 over the corresponding month of 2018.

Reviewing the follow up of the directions made by the Chief  Minister in the last review meeting, Anurag Rastogi, apprised the Chief Minister that 1300 taxpayers, who had not filed their GST returns in the previous months, were contacted by the Department physically to ascertain the reasons for their non-filing of returns. The drive had resulted in an increase in compliance of return filing. The return filing compliance of the State has gone up to 81 percent.

He further shared that the special drive for monitoring of the top taxpayers of the State has also resulted into significant increase in return filing compliance wherein their compliance has gone up from 93 percent on November, 26, 2009 to 97 percent as on December 3, 2019.

The Chief Minister was also apprised of the status of implementation of the two insurance schemes which have been launched for the welfare of the Traders in the State and the steps taken by the department for its wide publicity. The efforts of the Excise and Taxation Department in augmenting the GST revenue were appreciated by the Chief Minister. The Chief Minister directed that the department should continue such efforts in future also so that the State does not require any compensation on account of short fall of revenue from the assured growth of 14 percent year on year.

Senior officers of the Excise and Taxation Department and Finance Department, Haryana were also present.
