2 minor boys killed in road mishap in Bhadrak

Bhadrak: Two minor boys were killed when a car hit them on NH-16 near the New Bus-Stand in Bhadrak town on Tuesday morning. The deceased were identified as Sumit Sahu and Subhankar Mallick of the Kuansa area. Both were school students. The car driver fled the spot speeding up the vehicle. Police initiated efforts to trace the vehicle and the driver.

Man killed as van hits bicycle in Sambalpur

Sambalpur: A man was killed when a pickup van struck the bicycle he was riding near NSCB College Chowk here on Tuesday. The egg-laden van collided with the bicycle rider and the lost control and turned turtle. The bicyclist’s identity was yet to be known.

Brahmani boat mishap: 2 bodies traced

Dhenkanal: Bodies of two persons, who had gone missing due to capsize of a country boat in the Brahmani river in Dhenknal district three days back, were recovered on Tuesday. They were identified as Ramesh Sahu of Roda village and Biswajit Acharya of Kundandeipur village. One more person was still missing by the time of filing of this report. Notably, the boat ferrying eight persons had overturned midway in the river in the night of September 7 near Khadagprasad. While five persons managed to swim ashore, three had gone missing.

Panic as hillock subsides in Gajapati

Paralakhemundi: People have been panicked as a hillock at Jharanaghati alongside the Nuagada-Keradanga road in Gajapati district subsided on Monday. Due to the landslide, mud and stones have rolled on and blocked the road. Vehicular movement to villages like Kamalapur, Bhaliasahi, Keradanga, Manikapur and Rangamunda were fully stopped on the day. However, locals cleared the road by making a day’s effort and traffic was normalised on Tuesday. Locals said many hillocks had earlier slid in rainy seasons. Stating that people always apprehend landslide mishaps, they have demanded that foothills be stone-packed with iron wire nets soon.

KTM holds stunt show in Bhawanipatna, Puri

Bhubaneswar: The KTM conducted breathtaking stunt shows in Bhawanipatna and Puri. The shows were organised to exhibit the mind-blowing stunt rides and tricks from professional stunt riders. The show was held in Tennis Court, LBS Ground in Bhawanipatna and Susama Garden, Sarbodaya Nagar in Puri. The professional stunt team demonstrated stunts on the KTM Duke bikes.

Bhubaneswar: The Killer Jeans opened its store in Talcher recently making its store count to 48 across the State. The brand has vibrant collection for men’s wear in formal, semi-formal and casual wear. The collection which is displayed also includes fusion wear for the contemporary women under the brand Desi Belle. Kewal Kiran Clothing Limited CMD Kewalchand P Jain said, “We are strengthening our position in Odisha by adding one more store. We would continue to increase depth of Killer Jeans brand in the State.”

Honda holds road safety awareness meet

Baleswar: Contributing towards building a collision-free India on roads tomorrow, the Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India Pvt Ltd held its three-day National Road Safety Awareness programme here and sensitised over 2,000 school students of the Modern Public School. The programme covered important topics of traffic rules and road discipline to help school children grow up to be a law-abiding citizen.
