Haryana STF nabs most wanted criminal
Chandigarh: A team of Special Task Force (STF), Sonipat has arrested a most wanted criminal and parole jumper, carrying a reward of Rs 50,000 on his head, from Kharkhoda near Kundali -Manesar-Palwal (KMP) Expressway in district Sonipat. A spokesman of Haryana Police said that arrested accused was identified as Roop alias Kalu , a resident of village Manheru, district Bhiwani. Two illegal country made pistols and alive rounds were also recovered from his possession. He was wanted in several cases of crime including murder and loot. He has sentenced life imprisonment in different cases of crime. He jumped from parole in year 2013. He entered the crime world in the year 2002. During preliminary interrogation, he confessed to his involvement along with his co-accused in more than one and half dozen cases of crimes registered at different police stations.
Khelo India: Punjab's tally at 65 medals
Chandigarh: In the ' Khelo India Youth Games' currently underway at Pune, Punjab bagged 2 Gold Medals in Basketball, 1 Silver in Football and 1 Silver and 2 Bronze Medals in Boxing on Saturday. This takes the medal tally of Punjab to 65 which includes 22 Gold, 18 Silver and 25 Bronze Medals. In what proved to be a golden day for Punjab in Basketball, U-17 Boys and Girls teams bagged coveted Gold medal.
25th Punjabi Parvasi Divas inaugurated
Chandigarh: Punjab Finance Minister Manpreet Singh Badal was the chief guest of the 25th Punjabi Parvasi Divas at Hotel Taj here on Saturday in an event organised by International Chamber For Service Industry (ICSI) in collaboration with the Punjab Government. Badal inaugurated the event and also released the vision document of the ICSI. In the vision document, ICSI underlined the need to develope service sector in the state to further improve financial health and attract more investments. Prominent among others presented in the event were Addition Chief Secretary (Home) N.S. Kalsi, Principal Secretary (NRI Affairs) S. R. Ladhar, ADGP (NRI Wing) Ishwar Singh, Punjab Health System Corporation Chairman Amardeep Singh Cheema, amongst others.
