A four-day Jharkhand Inter University Youth festival began on an enthusiastic note at Birsa Agricultural University (BAU) on Saturday. The event stated with cultural procession in which students attired in colourful dresses, displaying different themes and moods participated with flags of their respective universities.

Inaugurating the event, Governor Droupadi Murmu said it is not just an assemblage of students for competing under one roof but also a confluence of emotions, culture and talent. Obtaining degrees is a one thing and opting career path as per aptitude and talent is different. She said with so many opportunities available, youth can make their career in sports, culture and literature too.

The Governor said Jharkhand not only has abundance of mineral and forest resources but rich cultural heritage also. Addressing the gathering on the occasion BAU, Vice Chancellor, Parvinder Kaushal said participation in cultural, literary and sports activities was essential for overall development of personality. Youth festivals are not just about fun, food and contest, but these events also promote cultural integration and nation building, he added.

Speaking on the occasion VC of Ranchi University (RU) RK Pandey said the Department of Performing Arts of the RU in association with Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts was doing a lot for promotion of art and culture in the State. Students were also encouraged for video and film production. He said infrastructure and auditoriums of Ranchi were always available for events of BAU also, he added.
