A 22-year-old youth, Anoj Kumar Singh alias Anuj, committed suicide at his house in Birsanagar allegedly for not being able to get a job.

While a 35-year-old man, Amit Kumar Sharma committed suicide due to family disputes at his house on Post Office Road under Mango police station area in the wee hours of Sunday.

According to relatives, Anuj had done a course from a local Industrial Training Institute (ITI) and had applied for a job at Tata Motors Ltd on the basis of his ITI training.

"We are shocked. Four days ago Anuj got to know that he was not selected for the job and was disheartened.  Last night he took his dinner and went to bed and shut his room from inside. At about 9 am today, it was discovered that he has committed suicide," said a relative.

In the morning, Anuj's mother Damayanti Devi knocked at the door at about 7 am, but as no response came from inside. When the youth did not open the door on his own, Damayanti Devi called some relatives who then called in the police.  A police party reached at the house and broke open the door to find the youth hanging from the rod of the ventilator.

The police had subsequently removed the body to MGM Medical College mortuary for post-mortem.

OC, Birsanagar police station, Bhushan Kumar said the deceased was son of Late Dwarika Singh, a retired Tata Steel employee and resided at their Birsanagar house along with his mother.

"Though the deceased left no suicide note, but from the statement made by his mother and other relatives, it is assumed that he must have committed suicide after getting depressed for not getting a job," said the OC.

In another case, 35-year-old man Amit Kumar Sharma committed suicide due to some serious quarrel at his house.

Mango police station OC, Arun Kumar Mehta said that the man who had a shop at Mango market would stay in tension due to family disputes and finally committed suicide by hanging himself at night.
