Chhattisgarh cabinet Minister Kawasi Lakhma was caught on tape advising students who aspire to become ‘leaders’ like him to hold the Collector and SPs by their collars.
State Industry, Commercial Tax (Excise) department minister had reportedly given this controversial statement during Teachers’ Day celebration at a school in Panwaar village in Sukma district.
‘Collector ko ya SP ko collar pakdo’ (catch the collar of district Collector or SP),” the minister had told a tribal student who had expressed interest in pursuing politics as career. He made the statement while sharing some recent experiences with students over a lunch.
The students erupted in laughter listening to Lakhma.
The video was shared by former minister Ajay Chandrakar on twitter, who sarcastically wrote that ministers in Bhupeh Baghle government were using good words for the executive.
Meanwhile, when contacted Lakhma claimed that his statement was being misquoted by the rival political party.
He clarified “I had told student who had asked me what he should do to become a leader like me- to finish his studies first. Then fight for the public cause on street and lay siege to collectorate if required.” Holding-collar statement is not entirely true, he added.
