Man booked in talaq case

Wednesday, 12 June 2019 | PNS | Lucknow

After intervention from Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the Agra police on Tuesday arrested an accused in the triple talaq case and sent him to jail.

Chukru Rehman from Rakabganj was arrested after his wife Tarannum lodged a complaint with the CM. Directives were issued to arrest him. Following the arrest, the victim expressed her gratitude to the Chief Minister.

Tarannum, a resident of Dhobi mohalla, Sadar Bazar, Agra, wrote a letter to CM Yogi Adityanath and requested action against her husband for oppression and domestic violence. In her complaint, she said her husband divorced her by saying talaq thrice, without any valid reason.

CM Yogi Adityanath directed the administration to take immediate action, following which Agra police filed an FIR against the accused Chukru Rehman and arrested him.
