A 26-year-old allegedly involved in supplying illegal firearms to different gangsters in Delhi and Haryana arrested on Monday. Police have also recovered four sophisticated pistols and a country made pistol with two cartridges from the possession of the accused.
The accused has been identified as Sumit Kharab alias Lambu a resident of Mundhela Khurd village near Delhi’s Jaffarpur area.
According to Anto Alphonse, the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), Dwarka district, on May 12, specific inputs were received that an illegal arm supplier would come near Nursery Plantation opposite Vardhman Mall, Sector-19 in Delhi’s Dwarka at about 10.00 PM with a huge consignment of illegal arms and if raided, he can be apprehended with those consignment of illegal arms.
“Acting on the tip-off a trap was laid and the accused was apprehended. During interrogation, the accused disclosed that after death of his father, he quit studies and started farming during which he got into the addiction of liquor,” said the DCP.
“In 2014, he was arrested in Haryana’s Bahadurgarh area where he came into the contact of several gangs which used to operate in Haryana and Delhi.
He quickly assessed the need of illegal firearms and profit behind it. He then engaged himself in the trade of illegal weapons,” said the DCP.
