In yet another incident at the Kherki Toll plaza on the National Highway-48, a woman toll collector was allegedly slapped and then punched by a man after she stopped him from passing the barricade without paying the toll tax on Thursday morning.
Following which the Gurgram police arrested the accused within a few hours. The accused has been identified as Rahul (23), a resident of Shikohpur village here.
"The incident occurred around 10.45 am in lane number 11 of the toll plaza where the victim was collecting toll tax. The entire incident was captured on CCTV camera," said a senior police official.
In the footage, a man can be seen coming out of his Maruti Alto car and arguing with the toll plaza staff. He then moves towards the cashier and argues with her and later slaps the woman staffer.
He then punches her in the face as other staffers try to restrain the accused from threatening the victim of dire consequence. The man then gets in his car and flees the spot.
"When the woman refused him pass without paying the toll charges he turned violent and stepped out of his car and allegedly manhandled and punched her. She was bleeding from her nose after the confrontation," Kripal Singh, PRO of Skylark, the toll operator.
"The man thrashed me and even threatened to kill me. He abused and molested me as well. The other toll operator saved me from the man and Later I reported the matter to the police,” the victim said in her complaint.
A case in this regard has been registered under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) at the Kherki Daula toll plaza and accused has been arrested, further investigation is on," said Subhash Boken spokesperson Gurugram police.
