A 26-year-old married woman has been allegedly gang raped by two men at an isolated spot in South Delhi's Maidan Garhi area on Sunday.
According to the woman, she had gone to Swami Satsang ashram at Fatehpur Beri when the incident occurred. The woman, a native of Alwar in Rajasthan, had came to Delhi three days back and was staying at a relative's house in Rani Bagh. The victim has an eight-year-old daughter and is at present living separately from her husband.
A senior police official said after leaving ashram the woman was standing on the Chattarpur main road, waiting for an auto-rickshaw when a white car stopped and she asked the two occupants of the car to drop her home. "However, the men took a wrong route and took her to an isolated spot in Maidan Garhi area where they took turns to rape," said the senior police official.
"The victim told police that she heard the two men addressing each other as Devender and Jaihinda. After committing the heinous crime, they dropped the woman outside Odies following which she made a call to the Police Control Room (PCR)," said the senior police official.
"The police team took the woman to the AIIMS hospital where her test confirmed sexual assault. A case under section 376 D of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) has been registered at the Maidan Garhi Police station," said the senior police official.
