Meteorological centre warns of heavy rain today onward

n The state Meteorological Centre has issued warning about the possibility of heavy to very heavy rainfall likely to occur at isolated places especially in Chamoli, Rudraprayag, Bageshwar, Pithoragarh, Dehradun, Nainital and Pauri districts of Uttarakhand during four days from August 13 to 16. Overall, the weather is likely to remain generally cloudy with possibility of light to moderate rainfall and thundershowers at most places in the state on Tuesday.]

The meteorological centre has issued advisory stating that due to continuous light to moderate rainfall activities during the week with isolated heavy to heavy rainfall over Uttarakhand especially from August 13 to 16, the inundation of low lying areas in plains and landslide in mountains at a few places is very likely to occur from August 13 onwards. The Met centre advised the district authorities to monitor the situation closely and take necessary precautionary measures. The local commuters and tourists moving in mountainous areas and people residing in low lying areas in plains have been advised to take precautionary measures especially from August 13 onwards and coordinate closely with the state government authorities.

In the provisional capital Dehradun, few spells of rainfall and thunderstorms are likely to occur, one or two maybe heavy in some areas on Tuesday. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be 30 degree Celsius and 24 degree Celsius respectively.

Meanwhile on Monday, the maximum and minimum temperatures recorded at various places in the state on Monday were 30.5 degree Celsius and 24.3 degree Celsius respectively in Dehradun, 32.6 degree Celsius and 24.4 degree Celsius in Pantnagar, 21 degree Celsius and 15.4 degree Celsius in Mukteshwar, 22 degree Celsius and 18.8 degree Celsius respectively in New Tehri.
