Due to the shortage of Government houses for the newly-elected legislators here, a multistoried building would be constructed at MLA Colony replacing the existing quarters.Assembly Speaker Surjya Narayan Patro said, “As per the plan, some portion of MLA Colony will be demolished and 7R quarters will be constructed in the area for 140 members. The multistoried building will come up at a cost of Rs 400 crore.”The quarters would be built with all facilities, including a conference hall, a Kalyan Mandap, a gym and a morning walk path.Besides this, the lobby of Legislative Assembly would also be renovated, Patro informed. Tender for the purpose has been invited.The move is to make the Assembly complex most modern in the country, he added.
