The arrest of Karan Khanna, a 32-year-old member of an inter-State drug peddling racket in national Capital on Tuesday, has led the sleuths of Delhi Police Crime Branch to a vortex of drug peddling. Khanna who is singing like a canary, has disclosed a startling trend: that there was a huge spurt in the consumption of hashish (charas), marijuana and other narcotic drugs among high profile people in the city. Police have also seized around 12,00 gram of hashish, California weed weighing one gram and 500 mg cannabis oil meant for supply in reputed educational institutes, clubs, hotels and lounges here.
The team of crime branch, Delhi Police arrested key member of the racket Karan Khanna, a resident of South Delhi’s Radhey Mohan Drive near Chattarpur.
Police said the accused used super luxury cars and SUVs to supply narcotics drugs to different places in the city.
“On July 15, specific inputs were received that Karan was indulged in supplying of imported marijuana, marijuana oil, cannabis oil and malana cream (charas) to persons organizing parties at farm houses in South Delhi,” said Dr G Ram Gopal Naik, the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), Crime Branch.
“Acting on the inputs, a trap was laid near Tivoli Garden Mehrauli and Karan was apprehended,”said the DCP.
“During interrogation, the accused disclosed that in 2012 he started procuring charas from Himachal and then supplying the same to his friends who were organising private parties in farmhouses of South Delhi. Later on, his brother also joined his nefarious activities and both of them started supplying of narcotics substance in rave parties which were organized in farmhouses,” said the DCP.
“Both of them were regular party mongers and used to organise their own parties also. For this purpose, they have taken two farmhouses on rent in the isolated area of Mehrauli and Fatehpur Beri. To supply narcotics substance to foreigners in city, Karan’s brother also came in contact with the suppliers of imported narcotic substance dealers. The recovered substance was to be
delivered on the directions of his brother,” said the DCP adding that further investigation is on.
