Train services on the Gomoh-Barkakana section of the Northern Central Railway was affected after the overhead traction wire snapped between Khalari and Rai railway stations in Dhanbad on Saturday evening.
NCR sources said the wires snapped at the Bhopal-Hawrah Saktipunj Express along with several other passangers trains were about to pass between the two stations. The trains were later halted at Khalari and Barkakana railway stations.
The Saktipunj express 11447 and 11448 Up and DN and 53344 DN Chaupan Gomoh passenger were stopped at Rai railway station, they said. The reason for the snapping of the wire was not immediately clear, the sources said.
“My train Saktipunj express was stuck at Khalari station for nearly an hour.”,passenger Anup Akela said, “It was really painful as my friend Vijay Kumar was not feeling well and we were in a hurry to reach home.” Several passengers took to social networking sites to warn people of the disruptions.
Sources said: “An insulator at the OHE got damaged. It has now been repaired and the train traffic is being restored”.
